Counting on from 5

I am learning to keep 5 in my head and count on.  We play the board games to help us practice this.

" I can do the dice counting.  I roll the dice and I put the counter on the number.  I put 5 in my head and count it up." said Murtuza

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

"I can write words by sounding it out.  I can robot words at Story writing and Reading time."  said Murtuza

Making Pizza

We made pizza as a class, using ingredients that we had grown ourselves. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', they produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Fraction fun

We are learning about halves and equal shares in our fractions work.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Beginning sounds

I am learning to make the beginning sounds so I can work out what the word is.  I am learning to answer questions about the story so I understand what is happening in the story.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Student lead conferences

Here you are sharing your learning with your Dad at your Student Lead Conference. This was a great chance to celebrate the progress you have made so far this year.

Maths

I am learning to write my numbers in the correct order.  I am learning to start from any number and count on to 10.

Murtuza said " I can write the numbers in the bus up to 10"

Reading

I am learning to point to the words and use the pictures to help me work out new words.

Murtuza says, " I can look at the picture to help me read. It gives us a clue. I point to words so I don't get the words wrong. You have got to look at the words and the letters too."

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

I am learning to draw a self portrait.  I am able to put all the features in the correct place.
